BSUK Slowpitch Cup Returns for Summer Bank Holiday Weekend!

Fri 6 Aug 2021

It’s back! By popular demand, we're giving the inaugural BSUK Slowpitch Cup another run out this season! The following two tournaments are planned at Farnham Park:

  • 28-29 August is for teams playing at D and C grades – Enter here
  • 30 August is for teams playing at B, NSL2 and NSL1 grades – Enter here

If you didn’t get the chance to play in June and you’re stuck on what to do over the long August Bank Holiday weekend, here’s your chance to enjoy more softball action.

Why should you enter?

  1. It’s slowpitch softball, Jim, but not as you know it: more running, high scoring, fast and furious action than ever before.
  2. Take a look at the Tournament Rules – D and C grades here | B, NSL2 and NSL1 grades here
  3. Watch this short video of the June tournament.

  4. All games will be played on dirt fields.
  5. It’s summer so the weather should be kind.
  6. 2020 left us wanting more, much more.

And don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what folks who played in June said:

Dan Spinks, Pioneers: “We really enjoyed playing with the different rules, breaking up the norm, especially the 1+1 count that we tend to play in the States.”

Carmel Lord, Thames Valley: “I liked the quick game pressure which put me on my toes from the get-go.”

Nina Harding, Solent Oddballs: “The timing, the pitching, it was very fast-paced with no hanging around.”

Phil Yorke-Robinson, Nottingham University: “It was really good to come down and play in a club competition as a University team, giving us great game experience. We all really enjoyed the Fully Loaded format as we all had so many more plays than with normal rules, such as forces at home and tag plays.”

Tracey Evans, Bracknell: “ Frantic and mad but I loved it. It took a bit of getting used to at first and it was great playing against new teams.”

Bev Brockway, Mescalitos Ninos: “I loved it. It made the game less stale and made us work as a team.”

Even the umpires got into the spirit of things. Here’s what the weekend’s BASU Crew Chief, Pearl Bramhall, had to say: “Fast, furious, fabulous fun. You need eyes where you never needed them before. The game requires more strategy and planning.”

Kim Comer, fellow BASU Blue, added: “Much higher scoring which makes teams more competitive. From a Blue’s point of view, starting with a 1+1 count and the infield fly scenario, it’s all systems go from the start.”

Entries are on a first come, first serve basis, are limited, and close Wednesday, 18th August, so enter today!
