Academy Baseball looking for volunteer coaches

Academy Baseball Needs YOU!!!

Academy Baseball will be starting up again for the winter on October 22, and more coaches are needed to deliver the programme. Academy Baseball is dedicated to providing a quality winter training environment for all young baseball players, and a key aspect in delivering this programme is having high-quality and enthusiastic coaches to run the practices.

As well as delivering coaching sessions, there are opportunities for all coaches to continue their own development. Whether it be through a mentorship programme or simply getting to work with some of the more experienced Academy Baseball coaches such as MLB consultant Tom Gillespie or GB National Team players and coaches; time spent at Academy Baseball will definitely help you become a better coach.

Academy Baseball offers opportunities to coach both nationally and regionally.

There will be a total of six National Practices (two before Christmas and four after) and four Regional Practices (one before Christmas and three after) in the North and South of England.

Coaches can attend as many or as few Academy Baseball practices as they are able to, but all coaches, whether new or returning, are expected to attend the first National Practice on October 22 at the new National Training Centre in Milton Keynes, as there will be a coach training meeting prior to the Academy practice sessions.

Shadow Assistant Coach programme

Academy Baseball now offers a programme perfectly designed for those who want to continue developing as a coach but are not yet confident enough to be a fully-fledged Academy Baseball coach.

As a Shadow Assistant Coach, you will be paired up with an experienced coach and be able to learn first-hand how these coaches teach and instruct at Academy Baseball.

There will be opportunities to:

  • Assist with certain drills by hitting fungos or throwing soft toss.
  • Practice more advanced coaching skills such as throwing batting practice and running position-specific workouts.
  • Sit in on coaches' meetings.
  • Ask questions throughout the day.
  • Set up a development plan to help you advance to the level of Academy Coach.

Anyone interested in becoming a coach at Academy Baseball or enrolling in the Shadow Assistant Coach programme this year should contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

All coaches who assist at Academy Baseball this winter will receive one free National Membership that they can apply to a young player of their choice.
