The 2026 BUCS Baseball National Championships were held at Farnham Park on 2–3 May, with BaseballSoftballUK delivering the event on behalf of BUCS - covering venue provision, umpire sourcing and all logistical communications with participating universities.

Twelve universities competed across the weekend, with Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and Lancashire emerging from tightly contested group stage games to reach the final four. Narrow tiebreakers shaped the semi-final matchups, with Oxford defeating UCL in a thrilling 9–8 contest decided by a walk-off in the final inning, while Cambridge beat Lancashire to set up a historic varsity final.

In a fitting echo of the Boat Race, Oxford and Cambridge met for the national title. After a competitive start, Oxford pulled away to win convincingly, winning 22–5 and claiming their first-ever national championship. Cambridge took silver - the programme's first national medal finish. Lancashire defeated UCL in the bronze medal match to finish third.

BaseballSofballUK's operational delivery was central to the weekend's success. Providing the facility at Farnham Park, sourcing qualified umpires for all fixtures and maintaining clear communications with all twelve universities ensured the competition ran smoothly and to a high standard.

"BUCS Baseball Nationals Championships was run very professionally throughout. The officiating of the tournament was among the best I've seen at a weekend tournament in three decades involved in the sport in this country. The tournament ran like clockwork and I look forward to bringing teams along again in the future." — Ian Blease, Manager, University of Lancashire

“We're absolutely stoked to win our first BUCS title; we've been working towards this all season, and to see it come together like this is something really special. A lot of us are graduating this year, and after years of falling short, it feels incredible to finally climb that mountain while seeing both the sport and this tournament grow as much as they have." — Justin Huff, Captain, University of Oxford

“I thought the event was well ran, with tournament control being quick and consistent with the information pack in rule clarifications. All my players had an amazing time and experience and were very grateful to all the work put in behind the scenes to make happen.”  — Blane Heerey, Manager, University of Edinburgh

We now look forward to the BUCS Softball National Championships, again at Farnham Park, on 9–10 May.
