BaseballSoftballUK joins the British baseball community in mourning the passing of Alan Bloomfield.

Alan was a member of the Great Britain Baseball National Team for nearly two decades, making his debut in 1984 and playing in a then-record eight European Championships. A second baseman, shortstop, and pitcher, the Isleworth native was inducted into the British Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010, and was named the most valuable player at the 1988 European Baseball Championships B-Pool. Alan played for teams and leagues across England and Scotland, winning six domestic championships between 1984-2009, and played junior football for Arsenal before focusing on his baseball career.

A funeral service and celebration of Alan's life will be held at South Oxfordshire Crematorium on Wednesday, 6 March 2024 at 2 PM. Everybody who knew him is very welcome to attend.
