An off-season Slowpitch Softball Academy is a great opportunity for players to continue developing their skills during the cold months. After a number of successful summer sessions. We have chosen a variety of indoor venues which are the perfect setting for sharpening your skills during the colder months.

The Slowpitch Softball Academy

BaseballSoftballUK and the British Softball Federation have created a multi-faceted and accessible Slowpitch Softball Academy to offer technical guidance to support the skill and gameplay development of slowpitch players and coaches – focusing on the core skills of hitting, throwing, pitching and base-running.

Our mission is to empower slowpitch softball players and coaches to reach their full potential by providing resources and support. We aim to enhance the skills, knowledge, and passion of every slowpitch softball enthusiast, enabling them to excel on the field. Together, we build a stronger future for the game we love.

Vision and Purpose

Vision

BaseballSoftballUK is creating a multi-faceted and accessible Slowpitch Softball Academy to offer technical guidance to support the skill and gameplay development of slowpitch players and coaches – focusing on the core skills of hitting, throwing, pitching and base-running.

Our Purpose

The Slowpitch Academy will be travelling to regional venues during the Autumn and Winter months to deliver sessions in areas with a dense demographic of softball players.  This will allow the academy to reach a broader audience and provide valuable coaching and training opportunities to those who might not have easy access during other times of the year.

Stronger together

The Slowpitch Academy 3-hour indoor sessions are structured to provide training in the fundamentals of slowpitch softball. Here's a breakdown of what attendees can expect:

  • The primary goal of these sessions is to teach and reinforce the fundamental skills of slowpitch softball. The session will be divided into segments, each focusing on different skills.
  • Attendees will actively participate in the learning process. Coaches will demonstrate the correct techniques for each skill, and players will have the opportunity to practice these skills themselves. Coaches will provide feedback and corrections to help attendees improve, with guidance for fine-tuning techniques and addressing individual weaknesses.
  • Attendees can ask questions and seek advice on specific aspects of the game they want to improve.
  • While the primary focus is on instruction, there will also be opportunities to practice skills with the coaches. It's important to note that these sessions are instructional rather than full-on practice sessions.

Coaching Resources

The Slowpitch Academy positions experienced player/coaches and instructors with a strong background in slowpitch softball at the heart of the delivery. In time we will ensure these tutors have the necessary certifications and qualifications and currently we are working on standardising processes, maintaining a clear focus on letting these coaches/players pass on their unique skills.

The Slowpitch Academy is working closely with David Lee of the BSF and other coaches to prepare a resource which will form the foundation for the delivery of the Academy sessions.

The Programme

The Slowpitch Academy will be travelling to regional venues during the Autumn and Winter months to deliver sessions in areas with a dense demographic of softball players. This will allow the academy to reach a broader audience and provide valuable coaching and training opportunities to those who might not have easy access during other times of the year.

The dates below may vary slightly as they’re dependent on the venue and the instructors’ availability.

These events are for 14+ and any attendee under 18 will require a representative there during the sessions.
