About 

The Coaching Playbook will bring a new form of membership to baseball and softball in the UK - the Coach Membership. Qualified coaches who have completed the required coach training, safeguarding, and DBS check are eligible to register as a Coach Member. We strongly suggest First Aid training as well, although it is not required.

The Coach Membership is designed for anyone actively coaching baseball or softball in the UK, whether you're coaching beginners, clubs, teams, leagues, youth programmes, or high-performance athletes. By joining this coaching community, you’ll gain access to resources, opportunities, and support to grow your knowledge, develop your coaching practice, and stay connected to the latest in coaching across the UK.

Why become a Coach Member?

Professional Recognition within the Sport(s)

The Coach membership is recognised by BaseballSoftballUK (BSUK), the British Softball Federation (BSF) and the British Baseball Federation (BBF), demonstrating that you are a qualified, vetted, and accountable coach. It affirms your credibility and shows clubs, players, and parents that you meet national standards.

Safeguarding and Legal Compliance

Membership ensures that you are up to date with safeguarding training and DBS checks, helping protect the welfare of young and vulnerable athletes and ensuring compliance with UK sporting regulations.

Insurance Coverage

Coach Members are covered by public liability insurance through their membership—an essential layer of protection for both coaches and clubs in the event of accidents or disputes. However, a person with First Aid qualification is required on-site at any training.

Cost

The Coach Memberships will be FREE for all coaches who complete the requirements during 2025, for a period of one year. Following this period, there will be an annual cost to the membership. 

How to Register

There are five easy steps to obtain a Coach Membership.

  • Sport:80 Registration
  • Coach Qualification
    • Click on Coach Qualification to upload evidence of your completed qualification.
    • Select 'Add Coach Qualification' in the top right corner and follow the prompts to upload your certificate.
    • Once submitted, BSUK will receive an automated notification to approve it.
  • DBS Documentation
    • Upload your DBS check in the DBS Documentation section using the same process as above. For further information on gaining your DBS, please click here. 
  • Certification
    • Upload your Safeguarding and First Aid certificates in the Certification section.
  • Coach Membership
    • Once all prerequisites (coaching qualification, DBS, and safeguarding) are in place, proceed to complete your Coach Membership.
    • Your membership will only go live when all documentation is approved.
    • You’ll then appear on the Find a Coach page.
    • When completing your membership, you’ll have the option to opt in to sharing your contact details. If you’re open to additional coaching opportunities, this is a great way to promote yourself.
