The All Stars Fastpitch League was formed in 2022 as a brand-new concept designed to promote and develop fastpitch softball in the UK.

The concept was brought to life with two teams of specially-selected female players who will compete in the inaugural competition at Farnham Park National Baseball & Softball Complex in Buckinghamshire. Each team was drafted by their respective Coach and Captain, and players were compensated for their time - one of the first opportunities for players to be paid to play fastpitch softball in the United Kingdom.

GAME 1 - 21 May 2022

The Ravens and Eagles slugged it out over five innings in a close game, which ultimately saw the Eagles win 8-4. The Ravens jumped out to an early lead in the second inning, with a leadoff single by Barbara Killer, a sacrifice bunt by Cheyenne Vogel, another single by Jenny Ball and then a two-run triple to deep centre field by Alyson Spinas-Valainis and an inside-the-park home run from Alyssa Johnson giving the Ravens a 4-0 lead.

However, the Eagles were able to fight back, with Sian Wigington's inside-the-park three-run home run cutting the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, The Eagles would take the lead in their last at-bat of the day, the bottom of the fifth; A single by Kristen Kittinger to left field, a bunt base hit by Jade Yerex, a triple by Chelsie Robison and a double to centre field by Amie Hutchison gave the Eagles into the lead, and Chiya Louie sealed the game in style with a two-run inside-the-park home run, ending with a slide into home that made the final score Eagles 8, Ravens 4.

Both teams received strong pitching performances from Amie Hutchison (Eagles) and Alyson Spinas-Valainis (Ravens)

MVP awards went to Eagles’ second base player Chelsie Robison as Best Defensive Player and to Eagles’ catcher Dani Briggs as Best Offensive Player.

GAME 2 - 4 June 2022

The 2022 All Stars Fastpitch League Series came to a successful conclusion on 4 June at Farnham Park National Baseball and Softball Complex as the Eagles posted a 6-1 win over the Ravens.

The game was scoreless for the first two innings, but it was the Ravens who struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. A lead-off single to left field by Cheyenne Vogel was followed by a sacrifice bunt from Michelle Shaw to advance Vogel to second. A groundout by former Czech National Team player Michaela Sulcova moved Vogel to third and she scored on a single up the middle by shortstop Alyssa Johnson.

Pitching was on display during game 2, with the Ravens' Alyson Spinas-Valainis recording nine strikeouts, and the Eagles' Amie Hutchison adding four of her own. Hutchison, who induced 13 infield ground balls or pop-ups over the course of the game, didn’t walk a batter, and set the Ravens down in order in four of the seven innings.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Eagles took the lead with a pair of runs, as Chiya Louie stroked a one-out single to left field, and scored on a single to right field by Kim Hannessen. Hannessen then moved up to second on a passed ball and scored on Emma Agostini’s single.

The Eagles added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning, with a single by Jade Yerex, a double to right field by Hutchison and a single to right by Louie – her third hit of the game – bringing in a pair of runs. In the sixth inning, a lead-off single by Hannessen, a two-out single by Yerex, an error and a wild pitch accounted for two more runs and took the score to 6-1, which is where it remained.

The award for Best Offensive Player went to Chiya Louie for solid and consistent hitting, while Best Defensive Player went to Jade Yerex, both from the Eagles.
