The sessions are designed for anyone 16 and over, though young people aged 14-16 can join if they come with a parent.

Sessions will generally be followed by a drink after 8.00 pm at the Parrs Wood Hotel, on the corner of Parrs Wood Road and School Lane in Didsbury.

Fun and fitness

The sessions will be an introduction to a mixed-sex sport for everyone that delivers fun, fitness and friendly competition.

Over the nine weeks, participants will learn the basic skills and rules needed to play a game of softball.  Each week will start with the introduction of a new skill or rule and then move into game play.

No previous experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided.  People who attend the sessions should wear sports clothing and trainers.

Manchester Softball League

The Manchester Softball League is a 30-team league currently in its 20th year and is expanding to four divisions this season to accommodate new teams.  Players in the league range from 14 to over 60 years of age.

The hope is that rookie teams consisting of players from these beginner sessions will be able to enter the league for the outdoor summer season that begins in May, and individual players will be matched up with suitable teams.
