    Academy dates announced for the winter season

    BSUK has announced dates for National Academy Baseball and Academy Softball sessions over the 2012-13 closed season at the Dome in Milton Keynes, plus dates for GB Baseball and Softball national team training sessions at Milton Keynes and Regional Academy Softball sessions in Nottingham and in the South (probably London).

    Farnham Park pitches to be ready next summer

    BSUK is currently building dedicated baseball and softball fields at Conniburrow in Milton Keynes and at Farnham Park near Slough.  The last issue of Hot Corner had details of developments at Conniburrow; this issue focuses on progress at Farnham Park, where three fully equipped and flexible fields are being built that will provide four different diamonds for baseball, fastpitch and slowpitch play.

    BaseballSoftballUK is looking for suggestions for the 2012 sports coach UK Coaching Awards from within UK baseball and softball. The deadline for submissions to BSUK is Monday 3 September 2012.

    BSUK plans International Baseball & Softball Week for 2013

    BSUK will host an International Baseball & Softball Week in 2013 to celebrate the opening of new dedicated playing facilities at Farnham Park and in Milton Keynes, with high-quality international competitions for UK and overseas teams.

    The British Baseball and Softball Photography Competitions are now officially open for 2012, and everyone is invited to submit their baseball and softball images to be in with a chance of winning £100 in photography vouchers.

    BSUK recruiting for Academy Softball Volunteer Assistant Director

      With planning now underway for the 2011-12 Academy Softball season, BSUK is looking for a dynamic, skilled and talented volunteer to be the Assistant Director of Academy Softball. Working closely with Hayley Scott, the Academy Softball Director, the role will provide valuable additional coaching, admin and strategic support to The Academy.

    BSF gains £10,000 Sport England grant for fastpitch development

    The British Softball Federation has been awarded a £10,000 grant from Sport England for a three-year youth fastpitch development programme whose delivery will be organised largely by BSUK.

    Softball photo contest will run again in 2011

    The second annual British Softball Photography Competition, run by the BSF and BSUK, will be staged in 2011 with an exciting change to the way the competition will be judged. This year, the judging panel will determine a shortlist, but the winning photos will be chosen by online public vote.

    London Fastpitch Softball League to expand to 12 teams and two divisions this year

    The London Fastpitch Softball League, which began in its current form last year with just five teams, is expanding to 12 adult teams and two divisions in 2011. Division 1 will consist of three men’s and three women’s teams while Division 2 will have six co-ed teams.
