The first-ever British Baseball and Softball Photography Competitions, run in 2010 by BSUK in conjunction with the BBF, Project Cobb and the BSF, produced some pretty good winning photographs -- but this year the standard could be even higher.

Entries are now welcome for the 2011 Baseball and Softball Photography Competitions, where BSUK will again be presenting £100 worth of photographic vouchers for the winning entries in each sport.

This year, there will be an exciting change to the way the competition will be judged.

After the contest closes in September, the Federation and BSUK judging panels will determine a shortlist, but the winning photos for each sport will be chosen by an online vote among members of the British baseball and softball communities.

Entry Conditions

This year, entrants will be able to submit up to 24 photos during the contest, an increase of four on last year.

To qualify, photos must have been taken in 2011 and must capture some aspect of British baseball or softball. In addition to high-quality action shots, competition entries can also be photographs that show what happens around the periphery of the sport in terms of spectators, umpires, coaches, managers, equipment, the field, the setting, and everything else that makes up the ethos of the games.

The competition is limited to photos that do not picture any individuals under the age of 18. By submitting a photo, the photographer is confirming that he or she has verified that any individuals featured in the image are aged 18 years or over.

How to Enter

Entries should be sent to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), attaching no more than three photos per email and including the following information for each image:

  • A one-sentence description of the photo.
  • The full names of any people featured.
  • The name of the team or teams involved in the photo if applicable.
  • The date on which the photo was taken.
  • The location at which the photo was taken.

The contest will close on September 15, 2011.

Short-listed photos will be posted in galleries on the BBF and BSF websites by the end of September for online voting.
