BSUK recruiting for Academy Softball Volunteer Assistant Director

BSUK is looking for a dynamic, skilled and talented volunteer to be the Assistant Director of Academy Softball. Working closely with Hayley Scott, the Academy Softball Director, the role will provide valuable additional coaching, admin and strategic support to The Academy.

Details

Title:  Assistant Academy Softball Director.

Responsible to:  Academy Softball Director.

Appointment by:  BSUK's Head of Development with the Academy Softball Director.

Term:  1 August 2011-31 July 2013.

This position is voluntary.

The job

The Assistant Academy Director will support the Director in all aspects of the Academy Softball programme, including the administration, recruitment and development of players and coaches.

This includes:

  • Recruitment of players and overseeing of players' documentation, ensuring the Administrator has all details necessary for communication.
  • Supporting the Director in keeping the coaching database up to date, including certificates, CRB checks and other qualifications.
  • Coaching at Academy Softball sessions both locally and nationally
  • Enhancing the coaching programme and knowledge of Academy Softball.

The major challenge of the position lies in the responsibility to support and assist in the production of a programme that will help develop players' skills and game knowledge. The goal is the development of a strong, sustainable programme that will develop players' abilities during the off-season to prepare them for the following club/national team season.

The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the development of players' progress and keeping records of Academy players. The Assistant Director will support initiatives for the planning and execution of development plans for coaches and players.

The Assistant Director will be required to attend all national Academy Softball sessions and the closest regional session. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to support Academy Softball coaches working with Academy athletes.

Key responsibilities

Academy Programme

To support the Director in the:

1. Planning and implementation of all Academy sessions and activities.

2. Review and monitoring of objectives in the strategic plan, to measurable outcomes.

3. Administration of all aspects of management including staff, players, reporting and documentation.

4. Control and monitoring the budget and selling of apparel.

Partnerships and Relationships

1. Prepare annual operating reports, annual applications for finance and other reports as required by the BSUK Development Director.

2. Work collaboratively with the schools, colleges and CSPs with regard to recruiting potential athletes.

Other

1. Deputise for the Academy Softball Director if necessary.

2. Participate in BSUK's Academy Baseball and Softball Steering Group as appropriate. 

3. Contribute to the general running of The Academy and Academy Softball as necessary.
