BSUK announces sponsors and new speaker for the 2017 Coach Summit
Tue 20 Dec 2016
International Sports Group, the European Softball Federation, the British Baseball Federation and the British Softball Federation have agreed to sponsor and support the 2017 BSUK Coach Summit.
This is the second year for the Coach Summit, which will take place on Saturday 28 January at Birmingham City University, and it has quickly become THE annual event in the British baseball and softball coach development calendar.
The theme for the 2017 Summit is ‘An athlete-centred approach’, and there will be keynote speeches throughout the day along with additional workshops and discussions.
On Sunday 29 January, guest coaches will run workshops for the High Performance Academy and Coach Tutor workforce, and coaches who attend the first day of the Summit are invited to come back on Sunday in an observational capacity.
BSUK National Development Manager Will Lintern said, “It is fantastic to have such a wonderful group of partners to help us build on the success of last year’s Coach Summit and make this year’s event even better. Thanks to the support of ISG and the ESF, BBF and BSF, we have a truly exceptional line-up of speakers, and one that will both educate and inspire our coaches ahead of the 2017 season.”
International Sports Group (ISG), established in 1985 by Bill Arce, is a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in working with national federations to deliver coaching clinics and seminars.
ISG has been responsible for coordinating a number of clinics in Europe, including the European Baseball Coaches Association Convention. This is not the first time that ISG has worked in the UK, but it is their first time partnering with the BSUK Coach Summit, and thanks to their support the 2017 line-up includes two truly exceptional baseball speakers.
Additional baseball speaker
Because of support from ISG and the British Baseball Federation, BSUK has been able to add Dave Turgeon from the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organisation to the line-up of keynote speakers at the 2017 BSUK Coach Summit.
Turgeon is currently the Coordinator of Instruction for the Pirates, where he oversees players and coaches across the whole organisation. Prior to this taking on this role, Turgeon had developed a wealth of coaching experience in the professional and collegiate sectors following a 13-year professional playing career.
Will Lintern said: “Dave Turgeon is one of the finest coach educators in the sport right now. To have both him and Pat Doyle ensures that we will create a truly remarkable learning environment. This is an event not to be missed.”
BaseballSoftballUK would also like to thank the European Softball Federation and the British Softball Federation for their support, which has enabled us to secure Cindy Bristow and Steve Shortland to deliver on fastpitch and slowpitch softball respectively.
