BSUK Academy looking for volunteer coaches

Wed 23 Oct 2013

Academy LogoAcademy Baseball and Softball return on Saturday, 26 October at Farnham Park and BaseballSoftballUK is looking for more coaches.  BSUK Academy programmes are dedicated to providing a quality winter training environment and high quality enthusiastic coaches are required to deliver them.

As well as delivering coaching sessions, there are additional opportunities for all coaches to continue their own development.  Whether it be through a mentorship programme or simply getting to work with some of the more experienced Academy coaches like MLB consultant Andy Bergland or GB National Team players and coaches, a tenure at the BSUK Academy will definitely help you to become a better coach.

There are opportunities to coach Academy sessions both nationally and regionally.  Both Academy Baseball and Academy Softball will hold a total of six separate national practices and four regional practices (two before Christmas and two after) in the North and South of England.  Coaches can attend as many or as few Academy practices as they are able to but ALL COACHES, whether new or returning, are asked to attend the first National Practice on 26 October at the new facility at Farnham Park as there will be a coaching meeting held prior to the sessions.

Coach Development – Shadow Assistant Coach

If you want to continue developing as a coach but are not yet confident in your ability to be a fully-fledged Academy coach, then we have a programme that is suited to you.  As a Shadow Assistant Coach you will be paired up with one of our more experienced coaches for the day and will be able to learn first-hand how they teach and instruct at the Academy.  There will be opportunities to:
 Assist with hitting drills.
 Practice more advanced coaching skills such as throwing batting practice and running position-specific workouts.
 Sit in on the coaches' meetings.
 Ask coaches questions throughout the day.
 Set up a development plan so that you can advance to the level of Academy Coach.

If you are interested in becoming a coach at the Academy or enrolling in the Shadow Assistant Coach programme this year, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
