    Baseball/Softball reinstated for Tokyo 2020 Olympics

    British Baseball and Softball is elated with the announcement by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (OCOG) to reinstate baseball/softball back on to the Olympic programme, following the 129th IOC Session in Rio de Janeiro.

    The Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF) have recently announced plans for closer collaboration and have set up joint working committees for Marketing and Media, Development and Operations, with BSUK’s Joint CEO John Boyd appointed to two of them.

    2020 Tokyo Olympic Committee recommends adding baseball and softball

    The Organising Committee for the Tokyo Olympics has recommended that baseball and softball, along with four other sports, be added to the Olympic programme for the 2020 Games.

    Baseball and softball to move closer together at world level

    The European Baseball Confederation (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF) held their annual Congresses together on 6-7 February in Dublin, and the joint message was that the two sports will be moving closer together around the world.

    IOC clears the way for baseball and softball to regain Olympic status

    The International Olympic Committee (IOC), meeting in Monaco on Monday 8 December, has approved a new Olympic bidding process and adopted a more flexible sports programme concept that could lead to the inclusion of baseball and softball at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

    Schedule set for Farnham Park Opening Day

    BSUK has announced an exciting schedule of events for the official Opening Day at Farnham Park Sports Ground on Saturday 20 July to celebrate the creation of purpose-built baseball and softball diamonds on the site, with the BBC’s Colin Murray confirmed as the presenter for the Opening Ceremony.

    Baseball and softball make Olympic shortlist

    Against many people’s expectations, baseball and softball (or baseball-softball, as the sports are now known for Olympic purposes) have made a short list of three sports to be considered for inclusion in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.  The announcement was made by the International Olympic Committee’s Executive Board on 29 May in St Peterburg, Russia.
