BBF members get a choice of Fantasy Leagues in 2010
Fantasy Baseball Leagues seem to be multiplying these days, and two BBF league teams are inviting members to join.
Chelmsford Clippers

The Chelmsford Clippers are inviting members of BBF teams to join their Fantasy Baseball League on ESPN this year, and at the moment they have seven or eight places left. If there is a lot of interest, however, the Clippers will start another division of the league.

The live Draft Day for the league is set for March 25 at 7.30 pm.

Anyone interested will first need to register at ESPN (http://games.espn.go.com/frontpage) and then contact the club on fantasy@chelmsfordbaseballclub.co.uk to let them know you have registered. A Fantasy League invite will follow.

Herts Baseball Club

The 2010 Herts Fantasy Baseball Competition is being run to raise £1000 for the Herts Little League.

Players 14 and older can enter a team into either the American or National Leagues, participate in a live auction to fill their rosters with actual MLB superstars, and prove to the world that they have what it takes to General Manage in the "Show"!

Players donate £25 to the Herts Little League through a PayPal link and then receive an invitation to join the Herts American or National League as an owner of a Fantasy Team. All proceeds go directly to the Herts youth programme.

Each League will have a live, online rostering system set up through an auction in the AL and a draft in the NL. All the owners will meet together in a cyber-convention to select their 25-man rosters. American League teams are limited to active AL players, and vice-versa for the National League. Each General Manager will take it in turns to secure an unsigned player.

When the real MLB season begins in April, owners will manage their own rosters, trading for talent and signing free agents. Starting lineups can be altered daily, trades made with other managers and new talent acquired from the free agent pool. Depending on how Fantasy League players fare in daily real-world action, owners will win or lose points based on ten key statistics. Whoever has the most points at the end of the MLB regular season wins!

Prizes include American and National League pennants donated by Major League Baseball International; an authenticated, official Rawlings baseball signed by Cleveland Indians superstar Grady Sizemore and an authenticated, official Rawlings baseball signed by New York Mets superstar Carlos Beltran. The owner with the top overall score from either league will receive a half-day expert-led Porsche Driving Experience, an amazing opportunity to test-drive some of the world's slickest automobiles on a professional driving course (this offer is available to fully-licenced UK drivers aged 21-70 with no convictions but the prize is transferable to another player, friend or family member).
