| BSUK to roll out “Point Person” system for supporting clubs and leagues |
BaseballSoftballUK has moved towards a much more club-centred approach to development in implementing the 2009-13 Whole Sport Plan, and at the heart of this strategy is the assignment of a staff member as a Point Person for every baseball club and softball league in the country.
Each Point Person will be the main contact between BSUK and his or her assigned clubs and leagues and will contact these organisations on a regular basis and offer support where necessary. This support may be in person or through other members of staff who have particular skills, but the result will be to coordinate the tools, materials, funding and programmes that BSUK can offer clubs and leagues.
PARTNERSHIPS
One of the important ways in which BSUK staff members can assist their assigned clubs and leagues will be in establishing partnerships with County Sports Partnerships and Local Authorities and partnerships with schools to form school-club links. They can also assist clubs and leagues in forming development priorities through a Development Plan.
Each BSUK Point Person will also ensure that there is a two-way flow of information between BSUK and the right person in each baseball or softball organisation. Many clubs and leagues change administrative personnel at this point in the year, so it is essential that clubs and leagues ensure that BSUK has up-to-date contact details so that the flow of information can be maintained.
Although at present BSUK only has staff in four of the nine English regions, this project will be rolled out across the country to allow BSUK to offer a consistent service to all clubs and leagues.
POINT PERSON DETAILS
Although the list of BSUK Point People and their assigned clubs and leagues will probably be subject to some change and adjustment as the season approaches, the current schedule of assignments is below.
All BSUK staff members can be emailed through the Contacts Page on the BSUK website.
