Bracknell Baseball Club to start pre-season practice on January 31
Bracknell Baseball Club began pre-season practice for its adult and Under-16 teams on Sunday, January 31, at Great Hollands Recreation Ground and Wooden Hill School (postcode RG12 7EE).

The club will run three adult teams this coming season after the British Baseball Federation indicated that the club's second team would probably play in the Southern Conference's AAA Division -- essentially a two-division promotion after the team won 14 of its 15 games in 2009.

The club will now form a third team that will take the place of its second team in the Single A Division.

Mark Salter, Head Coach of the club's second team, hopes the possibility of playing AAA baseball will excite existing and new players alike and the club now hopes to recruit new players to fill the Single A team's roster.

Defending Champions

The club's flagship team, the Bracknell Blazers, will defend its first National Baseball Championship in 17 years in an expanded National League South, which will consist of eight teams in 2010. The addition of Essex Arrows, Mildenhall Bulldogs and Southampton Mustangs will almost double the number of teams playing at the top level of the game and Head Coach Rob Rance is looking forward to the challenge that more teams will bring.

In addition, the club's Under-16 team, the Tornadoes, will be looking to defend the Pony National Baseball title it claimed for the second time in a row in 2009. Head Coach Paul Vernon is on the lookout for any players who would like to join the successful squad for 2010.

Bracknell welcomes the interest of any players, whether rookies or veterans, who would like to play in the coming season. For more information about practice times, which will be open to all players aged 14 and over, please email info@bracknellbaseballclub.co.uk or check the club’s website.
