| BaseballSoftballUK to hold World Softball Day celebration in London |
World Softball Day, on Wednesday, June 13, is being marked by BSUK with an evening of slowpitch games in Regents Park, London. BSUK staff will be on site organising the event and will also enter a team.
This year will be the third annual World Softball Day celebration. It marks the date in 1991 when it was announced that Women’s Fastpitch Softball would be added to the Olympic programme beginning with the 1996 Games in Atlanta.
World Softball Day is now celebrated around the globe through activities carried out by member countries of the International Softball Federation. In 2005, BSUK faced off against a team from London 2012 in Regent's Park to mark June 13.
This year's Regent's Park games are scheduled to begin at 6.30pm on pitches 11 and 12 (see map).
