ABCA Conventon 2014 - T-Minus 1 Day

Despite a cancelled flight, several rebookings and a snow storm, kudos to United Airlines for getting me to Dallas for the ABCA Convention. I'll try to post once a day based on my internet access...and I'll definitely share highlights when I'm back in London. Some randoms to get my reporting underway:

  • I did not get to turn left on any of my flights but Economy Plus is a big upgrade on Economy.
  • How they're able to keep planes up in the air in heavy snow is remarkable. Odd to see planes dripping the green and orange of de-icer.
  • The convention hotel is also hosting the two colleges playing in the Cotton Bowl (Oklahoma State and Missouri)...place will be buzzing.
  • A day ahead of the convention it was nice to bump into GB Baseball alum Brant Ust.

Finally, a brief rundown of what's to come:

  • Tomorrow evening there will be a reception for international coaches. From a simple social it's turned into a development meeting so I'm looking forward to see what they come up with.
  • On Friday morning Play Global! will host a reception...it's a great organisation co-founded by one of British Baseball's dearest, Tom Gillespie.
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be filled with clinics, exhibitors, catching up with the likes of Sam Dempster, and lots of baseball and coaching talk.
